First Assembly of God spearheaded the effort to establish Freedom Mission, Inc. in August 2002. Freedom Mission was established to meet a variety of community needs and, to that end, purchased the old American Legion building in Delphi, Indiana and the Freedom Center was birthed. Jacob’s Closet Thrift Store was established in the basement to allow people the opportunity to save money on the purchase of used clothing and household items. Freedom Mission, Inc. then renovated the kitchen and dining room area upstairs for the purpose of renting that area to Solomon’s Grille. The dining room is available for lease for the benefit of families and community groups. To date, through cooperative fundraisers, Freedom Mission has helped to raise money for community and non-profit groups such as the Delphi Youth Baseball League, Habitat for Humanity, the Boy Scouts, and the Delphi United Methodist Church missions team, and Royal Family Kids Camp.
