"We’re getting married!" Ah, the words of an excited bride to be. In the Scriptures, Jesus calls the church the bride of Christ. So…we believers “are getting married!” In the traditions of the ancient Hebrew wedding, a young man would proposed to a woman. The first step of his proposal was to bring the bride-price to her father. The bride-price was what he had saved his whole life for, to show the woman of his dreams the value he placed in her. This would be something very expensive--possibly something he saved for or worked for his whole life. When Jesus “proposed” to us, He came to this earth to present his body…His shed blood as his bride-price! He gave His all to show us the value He placed in us! Yes, we sinful, rebellious, dirty people—He said He loved us! He wants us! He proposes to you and me! Let me encourage you to watch the youtube video and listen to Kari Jobe’s song, “My Beloved.” As you listen to it, rejoice in the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is proposing to you. Yes, He has eyes for you! Lord willing…I’ll continue this thought next time. God bless!
