A Moment like this only Happens once every one hundred years

Almost 40 years ago, my life was changed forever, as I began attending an Assemblies of God church in Kokomo, Indiana. There was something different about the people…the place. Raised in a Disciples of Christ Christian Church, I was used to worship services of ritual and formality. When I walked into the Assemblies of God Church, I experienced a people who were
very warm and friendly, real people who openly expressed their love for the Lord and for other people. After attending there for about a year, I understood the difference. Here was a people who hungered to experience the presence of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. As a result of God’s impact on their lives, they lived to serve and minister to people.

The year 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the Assemblies of God (A/G).  Beginning with 300 believers who met in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the A/G has grown into a worldwide fellowship of over 66 million. The A/G is an outgrowth of the Azusa Street Revival that took place in 1906-1909 in Los Angeles, California. This coming Sunday, May 4th, I will trace the steps of our early pioneers, as we look at the foundation of the Assemblies of God. Also, we’ll show how the A/G formed simply to reflect the church as described in the Bible Book of Acts. In addition to that, our praise and worship will feature many of the songs through the ages—songs that express our theology, our experience with God, and our hunger for God.

The Assemblies of God are not perfect churches. Why? Because there will be no perfect church until the current one is caught up to be with Christ in the Rapture. In the meantime, We imperfect Christians in the Assemblies of God are growing, as is the number of our churches. I'm so glad that I am a part of this part of Christ's church. It a very exciting thing to be a part of the Assemblies of God. Not perfect, still seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
