In the beginning, Adam & Eve had it all. They had a perfect relationship with God and each other. They had a perfect place to live. They were clothed in the glory of God—IT WAS GOOD! Then sin entered, and the Bible tells us they discovered they were naked—and they were ashamed. The glory of God had been their “clothing” and they lost it when they rebelled against the Lord. They tried to clothe themselves (fig leaves) and their attempts fell short. God, in His mercy, pursued them and clothed them properly. He “covered” their sin and prepared them to live as overcomers in this world.
God continues to “dress” His people for victory! How do you overcome temptation? How do you win against fears, worries, and anything that seems to war against your mind, emotions, or spirit? Well, that will be the subject of my next sermon series, entitled “Dressed for Victory.” Beginning Sunday morning January 26, 2014 we’ll learn how God dresses us for victory—and we need to keep those clothes on!
